Geordie Hackett – A Man of Many Hats

24 Years of Experience in Sports Medicine

Geordie has been practicing in sports medicine and performance for over 24 years. During this time, he has worn many “hats”. In his first job, when people describe a triple threat, he was a quintuple (Head Athletic Trainer, Assistant Athletic Director, Dorm Director, PE teacher, and coach).

While in grad school at Arizona School of Health Sciences (ASHS) he clinically rotated at collegiate and professional settings, taught anatomy & physiology with cadaver lab for Arizona School of Massage Therapy, and contributed to the literature with research and educational books.

While at STI Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation he worked in a dual appointment roll: providing Athletic Training Services, while providing coverage for the Phoenix Caliente and Talons.

Founded GCU’s Strength & Conditioning Program

Finally, while at GCU, he founded the Strength & Conditioning program, expanded/designed facilities from 1 to 5, and grew a staff from 2 to 10 within the Athletic Training department. Geordie took GCU through the D1 reclassification process, has served on many committees, designing and applying Covid policies, all while maintaining the health care of intercollegiate athletes. In conclusion, a man of many hats.

Athlete, Man of Faith, & Family Man

Currently, he enjoys practicing his faith, family time, and mountain biking.

Supervising Physician: Dr. Tom Fiel

I’ve known Dr. Tom Fiel, DO for 12 years, back when he served as an intern Team Physician for GCU. He then went on to be the medical doctor for the Phoenix Suns. I was always amazed by his osteopathic skills. He now has his private practice in Tempe covering family and sports medicine. He has diagnostic testing (Ultrasound and X-ray) in-house and can expedite patient care with OrthoBiologics. It has been great having the support from Dr. Fiel as HATS’s supervising physician.
